International Symposium Pernaskahan Nusantara
Koesnadi Hardjasoemantri Cultural Center (PPKH)
Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta.
In the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 Year 2010 on Heritage explained that the Heritage is immaterial cultural heritage in the form of Objects of Cultural Heritage Buildings, Structures Heritage, World Heritage and Cultural reserve on land and / or in the water which needs to be preserved because of its existence has significance for the history, science, education, religion and / or culture. To realize the mandate of the Act RI, conservation efforts need to be made objects of cultural heritage in the archipelago as well as to disseminate more vigorous and wide so that people in Indonesia in particular, and the International masyakarakat general, more aware of the importance of the objects of the Cultural Heritage ,
Among the various objects heritage which has significant value in the development history of the archipelago is a script kuna (as Objects of Cultural) and the palace / castle (as a Heritage Building). As is known, Indonesia is one of the nation that has a heritage treasures of ancient handwritten manuscripts (manuscript) in very large quantities. The content of the contents of texts composed of diverse language and script is not limited to the field of literature, but also covers other fields as diverse as religion, history, law, customs, medicine, engineering, etc. other.
Meanwhile, castle or palace centuries ago plays a central role as a center of power and culture in the various kingdoms in the archipelago, such as in Aceh, Palembang, Cirebon, Yogyakarta, Surakarta, Buton, and Bima.
In the context of history, we can observe the existence of a very close correlation between the script and the castle / palace. Palace / palace has an important role in the effort of creation, maintenance, and inheritance of the ancient manuscripts. From historical records, we know that the palaces in the archipelago has become a center of writing, copying, maintenance, and inheritance manuscript. The palace scriptorium manuscripts archipelago. Many important manuscripts archipelago was created in the palace, and many important manuscripts preserved by the palace, and passed on from one generation to the next.
Efforts creation, maintenance, and inheritance of ancient manuscripts in the palaces of the archipelago has lasted hundreds of years, from generation to generation. That's why the role of the palace in relation to the texts of this archipelago can be considered as a long tradition. The palace as a royal power center plays an important role in the formation of a tradition in the community, "back and forth" its traditions, culture, more broadly, a society in a kingdom will depend heavily on the important role played by the palace.
In the present context, the castle or palace in some areas, still have relevance to the world Pernaskahan since become a doorstop preservation of manuscripts archipelago inherited from generation to generation as heirlooms.
Unfortunately, so far not much research done with regard to the important role in the formation of tradition Pernaskahan palace archipelago, and the role of the palace in the maintenance and inheritance of objects of cultural heritage.
Departing from that background, Pernaskahan Society Nusantara (Manassa) intends to organize an international scientific meeting.
